My name is Jane Thomas and I am a qualified Master NLP practitioner specialising in children, young people and their families. I work in secondary schools and also with private clients in their own home or on Zoom.
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) provides a framework to understand how you think and communicate, and then provides tools and techniques that enable you to make positive change. It looks at how we take in and process information and how that impacts our thoughts, behaviours and how we communicate with others.
When looking for help for you or your family it is easy to get confused between the different types of support on offer. To help, here is a quick guide:
You probably have an understanding of what counselling entails? Counselling is a ‘talking therapy’ whereby you talk in depth about your feelings and the issues you are facing. The counsellor's role is to listen and reflect back and this is great for people who want time to talk and to offload their feelings.
CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) has some similarities with NLP. CBT focuses on changing any limiting beliefs that you might have and provides strategies for making change at a conscious level.
NLP is the study of how we process information and how we communicate. It also works with limiting beliefs and provides many different techniques that work with your conscious and unconscious mind. As the unconscious mind is where 95% of our brain activity originates the NLP approach believes it is necessary to make changes at this level in order to create lasting change.
To summarise, I aim to do the following with my clients:
· Provide an understanding about how your mind works and why you think, behave and communicate as you do. Young people and parents alike find this so useful as it provides a solid foundation for change.
· Once the foundation is in place, we layer it with lots of different techniques to challenge yourself and make the necessary change to enable you and your family to thrive.
Alongside NLP I also combine EFT (emotional freedom technique), art and play therapy in my sessions to form the Lumen Approach to coaching.

"At first I wasn’t sure about talking in front of other people about my emotions but the sessions were actually quite fun. Jane really helped me think about how to react in difficult situations where I might have previously felt worried or stressed."
"Jane’s sessions have helped me adapt my everyday life and change my mindset so I can be more happy with who I am and also control my anger"
"I can only say what a truly amazing effect Jane has had on my daughter and therefore on the rest of our family life too. I am very, very grateful for everything she has done"
“I didn’t make any progress when I’ve had help in the past but with Jane we don’t just talk about stuff, we work on processes and how to get better.
My self esteem and anxiety are much better and I’m more in control of my feelings now.”
"Jane helped us to provide the skills our 11 year old needed to take him from a boy who was withdrawing from activities, hood up all the time and looking down to going on school camp and being positive again. She was calm, fun, totally relatable and made our son realise he’s not alone and can overcome fears that seem all encompassing at the time."
"This lady works magic...."
